In July of 2013, my husband and I went to the White Mountain region of New Hampshire for our 5th anniversary - side note, I HIGHLY recommend it - simply gorgeous!!! At any rate, it was less than a week since I been to my first "Cupcake Wars" winner and I found out that I was in the presence of another one! We decided that on our way out of town, we would stop for beer and cupcakes! The beer was from a local micro-brewery (Moat Mountain) - and another side bar, it was very good. I don't really like beer, but this was nice (and local). Anyway, after breakfast at our inn, we packed the car and headed for "White Mountain Cupcakery."

We got there before it opened and waited on a lovely porch. I think the bakery shares the building with other businesses, so it was difficult to find - be on the lookout if you go as the sign is small.
Well, after waiting for a while, I went inside and asked if I could use a bathroom. They graciously allowed me to do so and while we were waiting, we also looked at the cafe area. This is a picture of me beside what I assume was their Cupcake Wars display, but I have never seen that episode, so I can't be sure.
A few minutes after looking around, a man told us just two more minutes. So, we stood where the entrance to the cupcakes was and waited. Then, a door from another room opened and people started pouring in. A man walked right in front of me and started ordering. I did not want to make a scene, so I waited until another person came up. I ONLY say this because if you go, make sure you are in the correct line - and it is NOT the door that is the main entrance way. It is around the side (not on the main street). I ordered a Lemon to go.
"White Mountain Cupcakes" seems to stick with a few standard flavors. I read that they have a cupcake of the week or day and I am assuming that those are more "out of the box." Next time, I want to try one of those. (I think t hey also have Gluten Free on Saturdays - check their website).
I see on their website that on Cupcake Wars, they had a chocolate chipotle cupcake with a lime frosting dipped in ganache - now that is the type of cupcake that I am in search of for my blog!!! I am including a link to their flavors. http://www.wmcupcakery.com/White_Mountain_Cupcakery/White_Mountain_Cupcakery_-_Flavors.html
In the end, I would like to go back. Now that I know what the scenario at that place is all about, I can get in the proper line with the tons of tourists waiting outside and plan my choice in advance. The next time I am up there, I want to take my time and perhaps sample something not as standard as lemon......so, I guess this means that I have to go back to the heavenly White Mountains - darn!
"White Mountain Cupcakery." If you are in North Conway, NH (an amazing town!), then you should go and give them a try - but prepare your selection in advance and make sure not to enter from the front, as apparently, that is not the proper line. :)
...and by the way, they say on their website that you can call in advance to order a cupcake to make sure the one you want is there - I think that is very nice! :)
